"AI" and Advanced Technology Features
The 2014 Outlander features several modern electronic safety and convenience systems, which at the time were considered "high-tech". These features are not artificial intelligence in the modern sense but use sensors and cameras to assist the driver.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Available in the optional Touring Package, this system uses radar to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead.
Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM): Also part of the Touring Package, this radar-based system alerts the driver to a potential frontal collision and can apply light or full braking if the driver does not react (at speeds under 20 mph).
Lane Departure Warning (LDW): This camera-based system provides an audible and visual warning if the vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane, also available in the Touring Package.
FUSE Hands-Free Link System: This system (standard on SE and GT) uses voice recognition for hands-free control of your Bluetooth-connected phone and audio devices.
Navigation System: An optional feature with a 7-inch HD touch screen, voice command, and real-time traffic information.
Rearview Camera: Standard on SE and GT models.
Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC): Available with selectable driving modes ("AWC ECO", "NORMAL", and "LOCK") to optimize traction and fuel economy across different road conditions.
